the software in your head you’ve never questioned

Sometimes, it hits me that there's this whole system running in the background of our minds, just like those apps you forget to close. It's like, why didn't I notice that before? Kind of wild how our reality gets shaped by that.

Raymond is a multi-disciplinary designer and developer. You'll find him most commonly skateboarding, having a coffee, programming, algorithmic day trading, creating 3D art or working to bring the Reality Designers vision to life.

the overlooked source of your inner chaos — Section 2
I've definitely realized that reality, or what we call reality, is kind of like an operating system we're all running on without ever questioning if it's due for an upgrade. I mean, think about it. You're born, and immediately, this default software gets installed in your head, the way you see the world, react to it, what you think is possible or impossible. Most people never really touch their code, never hit the reset button to see if there's a more recent version they might wanna switch to.
But I think it's crucial we do. If you're like me, you've probably wondered at some point, "Is this it? "
It's like the time I decided not to go to college, right? Societal defaults said I should, but instead, I chose to be homeless for a while and start businesses because I needed to see what was truly mine and what was just the default script. Through that messy experience, I learned that this operating system we're running is way more editable than anyone tells us. And the interesting thing about that is, once you start tweaking the software, once you begin questioning the inputs and outputs of your own program, the whole screen of your reality starts to display something different.
So, here's what's weird: you have this screen of awareness, right? And slides of beliefs and projections are just flipping through it, without you even realizing it. But the moment you decide to step into the role of the designer of these slides, suddenly, you get a peek into the control panel of your own life. This is about shifting from being the user to being the developer.
Imagine debugging your own existential code. Every bug fix, every patch you apply, shifts what appears on your personal reality screen.
And there's this whole thing with psychic notifications, little updates life sends your way to keep you informed on what's coming up next. But, most of us just swipe them away, ignore the software updates, and just keep rolling on the outdated version of our lives. Changing that means tuning into these signals, actually reading them and letting them inform how we might wanna rewrite our reality script.
nothing out there requires your attention — Section 2
I mean, I think what most people miss is the flexibility of it all. The parameters of your life are a lot more adjustable than people let on. It’s almost like someone’s put a lock on the "settings" icon, and we take that lock as permanent. But I’m telling you, once you figure out how to pick that lock, everything changes.
It’s a bit like discovering that life is a game, full of hidden variables and psychic tests, waiting for you to navigate through them. And the more you pass those tests, the more advanced your character becomes, gaining levels in wisdom or creativity or whatever you choose to prioritize.

Designing your reality is basically debugging your own operating system. You find the broken beliefs, you patch them, and then everything downstream starts working differently.

And this loops back to how our culture often curates us into someone we didn’t choose to be. Turn on any form of media, and it's like installing a bunch of plugins that tag along for the ride, shaping your operating system in silent and sneaky ways. You kinda unconsciously pick up these cultural attachments, thinking you need them just because everyone else has got them installed too. But what happens when you decide to uninstall some of them?
When you strip it back to the core OS, what remains then? Well, that's where the actual you resides.
We rarely stop to perform a self-audit, to check out the terrain of our own minds and see what might be broken, what might need a patch or an upgrade. It's like, have you ever gone through your phone, deleting apps you don't use? You always find those ones lingering, zapping away your battery, you know, the apps you don't even remember downloading. Life's the same.
nothing out there requires your attention — Section 1
It's filled with these psychic attachments and beliefs you just forgot to question.
And every time you think you've got it figured out, that you've debugged the main issue, a new layer reveals itself. Maybe that's the trick. The game never stops. There's no real end screen or credits, just level after level, each requiring its set of upgrades and hacks to get through.
So, how do you stay in the loop? How do you make sure you don't get stuck in a loop? Keep editing your code. Keep questioning whether that reality screen is projecting your slides or someone else's.
Trace every input back to its source, and if it's not yours, maybe hit delete.
But here's where it gets weird. If you strip everything back, all the plugins, the apps, the attachments, it's not that nothing remains. Rather, what continues is what truly matters, the core attributes of your character you’ve neglected while being busy with all this unnecessary noise. That’s your untapped potential, the part of you waiting to be developed, to be played with in ways that the default settings could never allow.
And the funny thing is, every time you step into this mode of conscious editing, it’s like booting up a new version of reality, one that’s more aligned with who you really are. It’s not that everything out there stops existing, but it’s that it exists in a way that’s less relevant unless you decide it should be. Essentially, you become the curator of your own life, picking what's important, what's not, and what's just static noise.
nothing out there requires your attention
So maybe it all comes back to this idea that reality is a screen, and consciousness, this incredible technology, is what we use to display it. Your thoughts and beliefs are simply the slides, but remember, you're the one who holds the clicker. And maybe, just maybe, it’s time to create your own slideshows, or to stop the presentation altogether, and just sit with the blank screen for a while.
I’m not even sure where that leaves us, or if there’s a neat lesson to wrap up with. It’s more like this ongoing project you’re gonna be working on for the rest of your life. Always gonna be new bugs to find, new updates to install. But maybe that’s the beauty of it, that the game never truly ends, and the real quest is in the act of designing, redesigning, and always playing with new configurations.
Well, that's kind of it. At least until the next thought decides to interrupt this stream, then who knows where we'll end up.
