reality is a design tool, not an inevitability

I've been thinking about how reality isn't this fixed thing, it's more like this mutable canvas you get to rework. It hit me when I realized how much of our experience is just automation, executing scripts nobody really questioned.

reality is a design tool, not an inevitability
So the thing about designing your own reality is that it's not rocket science, but it feels like it because nobody tells you it's possible. I mean, we all walk around acting like life is just this fixed program, coded somewhere in the ether, and you’re forced to play by its rules. But the joke’s on us, right? Because all those rules are more negotiable than a toddler's bedtime.
I remember when I was younger, probably around 17, and I was toying with this whole notion of reality as a design. I decided, instead of going to college, I’d go homeless. It's not as crazy as it sounds, well, maybe it is. But see, the default configuration, the "OS" society installs in you, told me college was the next logical update.
But I opted out. I rebooted with a different script. And the interesting thing about that is it exposed all these outdated plugins, these societal plugins, that I didn’t need.
reality is a design tool, not an inevitability — Section 1
We think life just happens to us, but really, it’s running scripts and apps just like any well-designed tech system. You have beliefs running in the background, projecting their stuff onto your awareness like a series of old slides. And these slides come from all sorts of places, your upbringing, culture, media. It's curated chaos.
Remove one, and you suddenly start seeing things differently, as though you’ve adjusted the hue on your screen. So much of life is just rearranging those slides.
When I first started dabbling in business, it was like opening a new app I'd never used before. And yeah, the UI was confusing at first. Oh, the crashes and bugs! Like, starting a business felt like the ultimate live-action role-playing game.
If you’re at all like me, you realize each new challenge is just a new level loading, designed to test your current configurations. Debugging your beliefs is like searching for those pesky code errors. You take a closer look, rewrite what's necessary, and suddenly, everything downstream starts working differently.
But here's where it gets weird. Once you open your eyes to the distorted reality playing out, you can't unsee it. It's like coming online and realizing you've been offline forever. To me, that’s what consciousness as technology is.
It’s about realizing your mind is the operating system and that awareness, your focus, is the screen everything plays out on. You choose what to amplify, what to let fade into the background. It's a practical tool, not some esoteric concept.
I've definitely realized that, in this game of life, we've got hidden variables at play. It's not just the visible things you need to worry about. It's the stuff below the surface. You, essentially, are a bundle of hidden variables and scripts running in the background.
And until you make them part of the conscious design, you’re just being curated by an algorithm you didn't set up. You become a character following a narrative written by someone else. Maybe a past version of yourself, maybe society. It doesn’t really matter unless you change the narrative.
I remember a particularly challenging time when I found myself questioning every "plugin" I'd installed into my life. Ask yourself if this belief, this habit, is something you chose. Is it a plugin you need or one you can uninstall? Sometimes, it's just like debugging code.
If a certain belief isn't serving a purpose, if it's slowing you down or causing crashes, it's time to strip it out of the codebase of your life.

But here’s what’s truly fascinating: psychic notifications. I think they're a real thing. You know, those little nudges life gives you without warning. It could be a random thought, a coincidental meeting, a gut feeling you can't shake.
They're like push notifications from the universe coded into the OS of reality to alert you of pending updates or areas that need your attention. Ignoring them? It's like ignoring your phone when it tells you it's on 10% battery. Sure, you can keep clicking OK, but eventually, everything's gonna come to a halt.
And the part nobody talks about is the inner versus outer world dynamic. This is crucial because your outer world only adjusts when your inner world does. It’s not just a saying. This is literally how it works.
Change your inner parameters, and the outer world follows suit. It takes practice, no doubt, a sort of real-life hacking. You try different configurations until reality begins reflecting the new code. This is the essence of designing your reality.
Let's not forget, though, it's easier said than done. Sometimes I wonder if doing nothing is better than doing everything society expects of you. Because think about it, by not doing all the stuff that people are doing just by default, you have so much more time and energy to actually be deliberate about what you do choose to engage with. Life's a lot more about not doing a bunch of stuff.
It's about focusing your attention like a laser and simplifying your input layer.
There's a strange kind of freedom in realizing nothing out there requires your attention. You pick and choose what comes through your input layer. If you’re the kind who believes you need to install every update society throws your way, then your system becomes cluttered, slow, laggy. But if you’re deliberate, if you filter and curate what comes through, the efficiency of your reality, the system performance, goes up exponentially.
Anyway, I'm trailing off into another thought now, but it's kinda perfect. Because this is what I'm learning: in the ongoing narrative of our lives, the idea is to keep asking questions, keep finding those hidden algorithms and debugging them so you, and no automatic code, are in charge of your updates. Reality, after all, is a design tool, not some inevitable sequence of events. And that's huge.

Designing your reality is basically debugging your own operating system. You find the broken beliefs, you patch them, and then everything downstream starts working differently.

I'm going to stop here before I dive down this new rabbit hole, but it feels like there's always more layers to peel back, you know? It's like the more we dissect how reality works, the more intricate and customizable it becomes. I kind of want to explore what other weird and wonderful variables are out there, lurking in the subconscious, just waiting to be uncovered and reprogrammed.
